About the Opportunity  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Production Geologist to join our team in Vancouver, BC. 

Reporting to the Senior Underground Mine Geologist, your primary responsibility will be to support the geology team in all aspects of geological work programs.

More specifically, you will do this by providing technical analysis and assistance to underground exploration and production personnel to optimize extraction of mineable reserves.

Your key duties, that are to be performed with safety being the number one priority, are:  

• Collecting and preparing ore and concentrate samples for analysis
• Using laboratory apparatus and testing equipment, the Junior Production Geologist tests and analyzes samples in order to determine their content and characteristics
• Working as part of a crew, assembling, operating and maintaining field and laboratory mechanical and testing equipment
• Collecting, compiling and recording data and test results on all electrical and mechanical equipment and devices
• Adjusting and repairing testing, electrical, and mechanical equipment and devices as required.
• Monitoring exploration and drilling activities to determine timely sampling and analysis
• Using applicable measuring devices, inspects equipment for wear and identifies maintenance requirements and/or replacement of defective parts
• Preparing notes, sketches, geological maps and cross section reports for distribution to relevant personnel
• Participating in geological and geophysical underground mine survey programs, prospecting field trips and exploratory drilling
• Using relevant computer software applications plots collected data and information for retrieval and generation of reports
• Demonstrating awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection in keeping with Pretivm’s goals and objectives
• Performing other related duties as required

In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Bachelor’s degree/diploma in geology or geological engineering. Experience with grade control and production monitoring with epithermal style deposits and advanced computer & administrative software are a definite asset.  

Our ideal candidate will have project and coordination experience, the ability to record and maintain daily records, cross cultural awareness of the differences in cultural and economic backgrounds, knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures and good analytical, supervisory and problem solving skills. You will also have strong communication, leadership, planning and time management skills.

Please note, the nature of this role requires you to be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift and to be able to maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts.
